That will depend on your needs. If you need/want video, go for the T1i, if you don't, go for the 40D. Personally, I would go for a 40D. More FPS, better build, better AF, and the option of higher ISO.

Hope that helps.

I heard thats Canon's upcoming ∞D Mark LVII alpha 30 omega 16 beta 65. One of its new feature is the "Stop Time" function.

i went from an xti to a 40d....imo it makes no sense to go from an xti to a T1i....if you are sold on the video feature, its really not worth it, these cameras are used to shoot stills, yes video is nice, but take it from me, i own a 5dmkii and rarely ever use the video feature....go for the 40d, its a bigger body, more FPS and better at dealing with higher ISOs....not significantly better but still an upgrade....the TiI although its a newer model, still falls in the family of rebels i belive.

Hey I'm new to the photography game and I was just wondering if getting a SLR camera over a DSLR? Having an SLR camera, what process do I have to go through to develop the pictures, and is this process even worth it? Should I just go with dSLR?

Thanks!

Honestly, I would just go digital. If you have darkroom access, and the funds go for it. Learning to develop your own photos is really cool though, and something nice to know imo. Good luck with your choice.
