^ Thanks it... I'm switching over... HHahahhahahaaha... NOT!!! Good stuff, though... I'll post the 1D4's sample image when they're readily available... That 102k ISO is insane... Unusable, but insane...

Have u ever tried any other lenses?

yes i have actually. and one day you boys will learn. canon can tell when you have used other brands with their products and it voids their warranty if you every have problems with your camera. i stick to canon everything.

I bet you haven't had your dose of Nikkor glass!
You know, the 5D with a custom mounted Nikkor
14-24 f/2.8G is mighty fine lmao.
Continue with the selling people... Haha.

So all you're worried about is the warranty? That doesn't seem like grounds to call third party glass "shitty and wont last". There are plenty of third party brands that make excellent quality glass, and you obviously haven't had any experience with those. What third party lenses have you used?

I'm going to hope you don't believe Canon glass is superior to older ALT glass like Contax, Zeiss, Leica, Minolta Rokkor, Oly OM/Zuiko etc.

any proof?
i go to POTN and have not heard or read such a thing.
well, sorry to tell you buddy but I HAVE proof that you are wrong.
my 40D crapped out with the SIGMA 24-60/2.8 it got the err 99....whether the err99 was caused by the lens, canon did not say, nor canon VOIDED MY WARRANTY. in fact, they even gave best buy a go on replacing my camera for me.and then i opted to go for the 50D.
so i dont know where youre getting your facts from. i think youre just talking out of your ass and being a "canon-elitist"
i know i like all canon stuff and also WANT all the L i can get. but cmon, lets be real here...i dont need all the lens they make. there are many people who use alternative so that they can save money.
for example. does canon void your warranty if you use pocketwizards? many PROFESSIONAL's USE pocketwizards simply because pocketwizards, cybersync flash triggers are far more superior than the canon's ST-E2.
another example....batteries....is there anyone you know who got their warranty voided because they used a third party battery? i dont think so.
one more example...how about a third party battery grip? many people use third party grips for their cameras.
why are there third party lenses available? because they know there is a market for it. they know people would rather save a few hundred bucks by getting a third party lens that they know canon charges an arm and a leg for.
so stop being elitist and listen to ryan. its the photographer who matters, and not the brand of lens you use.
and as far as third party users such as myself, all my camera's are working great with all my third party stuff
sigma 50/1.4 , cactus v4 wireless triggers, digipower batteries and nothing has happened
oh and my OLYMPUS ZUIKO 50/1.4 With an EOS adapter WORKS FINE.

That may be true with the regular canon warranty but when you get into cps, Canon Professional Services, there are certain requirements and rules that members have to follow.
I didn't say one must buy all canon L lenses... i just said it is worth your money to save and get the best quality, because in the long run the lenses are what hold their value, not the bodies.
I would appreciate it if you read the whole conversation not just one post that you read.
Plus I dont think we should be having a discussion about this in the marketplace thread.

Interesting stuff... Being a "Gold" member for 4+ years, I should ask CPS why they never confronted and/or denied me service when I brought in my XTi + Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 combo for calibration... Hmmmm... Interesting stuff tdnick... Nonetheless, you are correct with respect to this being discussed in the marketplace... Care to make a thread to discuss this further? Hehhehehehhe...

That is interesting for a few reasons. One being that the XTi isnt one of the camera bodies accepted by CPS haha. Second, I suggest you read a little bit...
Quote:
GOLD LEVEL REPAIR SERVICE TERMS AND CONDITIONS (for ELIGIBLE Products only):
1. Warranty and Out of Warranty Repair Service
1. Warranty repair service will be performed in accordance with the Limited Warranty packaged with the product. These Membership terms and conditions may confer greater benefits to you than the Limited Warranty for the product, but this may not be construed as a modification, extension or enhancement of that Limited Warranty under any circumstances.
Once you read the fine print you will see that by modification, extension or enhancement of that Limited Warranty, they are referring to using non-canon products. Do your research and you will see, I have no reason to make this up.

so i think youre just talking out of your ass again.
ill keep this conversation here.
ill move the necessary stuff to the other thread

i'm not sayin you guys dont know your information. but you immediately attack someone because he makes a statement. if you go back and read i didn't attack anyone i simply made a comment. I have also been a cps gold member for some years now, I am going to call and get all the info i can on this tomorrow. If i am misinformed I will be the first to apologize for being incorrect.

keep being sarcastic like that. dont include in.focus in this thing. its not fair to the other members of your accusations.
were trying to let other people know the RIGHT THING..
you want to advertise for canon lenses only. fine. but saying that using a third party lens will void warranty for your body is just plain wrong information for people who want to buy lens other than canon.
like what butchie said already, canon did not ask or investigate whether the owner has been using a third party lens for the warranty. like i said, that he is the ONLY one here that i know of who has been to canon (IN PERSON) for service.

ill be goin to canon soon for my 3 bodies.
Well that is the information to my knowledge and no I haven't been to canon directly, but I also live in Michigan, I have been using their services for years now. Don't say I am giving the wrong information, it is wrong to you, but do you know for 100% that I am wrong? We can continue this tomorrow when I talk to my rep. _________________
