How will he help them? That's my main question, if anything he's an above average player nothing special if they got him in order to not trade for Bay then Boston is being fucking ridiculous by deciding to not spend money and if they don't I really don't see them getting far next year. We need some major reconstructions trade away Lowell, and Drew, let Jason Varitek and Tim Wakefield go for GOOD. Trade for Adrian Gonzalez, sign Ben Sheets who should be returning this offseason, sign either Bay or Holliday maybe both and try to trade for another starting pitcher give up Michael Bowden and Clay Buccholz for Halladay, that should be a good start of trying to rebuild for either 2010 or 2011 we need to start thinking ahead not be taking steps backwards.
EDIT: I also forgot to mention we need to get a solid defensive and offensive shortstop there isn't to much shortstops around but if I was Theo I'd try to get Hanley Ramirez back into Boston by trading some players I'd trade Delcarmen and probably Bowden or Buccholz if we aren't able to get Halladay into Boston.
