I'll contribute ...I have quite a few of the OGs & their retro counterparts that have been already posted, but here's a couple of comparisons that I didn't see on page 1.
Ok, first up, Black/black-true red VIII, commonly refered to as the "Playoffs"
***To save confusion, the OGs are on the left in all the pics, or the bottom shoe in sole comparisons***
The main difference between the OG & retro is of course the pull tab at the back, the OG is red, the retro black. Shapewise, there isn't much difference but the midsole is slightly thicker on the retros. Another part to point out is the plastic "buckle" for the velcro straps ...the OGs have a matt black finish, the retros are glossy. The retros also have a darker red, almost crimson on the sole. & of course the OGs have the good 'ol "Nike Air" on the insole!

Ok, next to compare are the White/black-light steel grey X! ...AKA "Steels"
The OGs first released in Nov '94 ...the retro version came out as a release in the 20th aniversary year -2005
Big difference between these two is of course the "capped" toe box of the OGs, which we all know MJ didn't like!
Despite whatever you may have heard Gentry Humphrey say about the Steels on the Kickz101 interview ....these were a general release.
Ok, some major changes happened to the retro versions, the toe cap being the most obvious, but also some color changes to the sole, OGs have a Powder blue Jumpman, the retro is red ...this color change continues to the insole ...along with a "Nike Air" logo for the originals! The other thing you will notice about the Jumpman is, that the retro shoe has a much more detailed version, with clearly visible fingers & laces! The OG Jumpman is more basic.
Also notice the difference between the Jumpman on the back. All retro Xs have the Jumpman facing to the right ....OGs to the left (depending on where they were made!) The placing of the production tag is different too ....OGs have it on the tongue, the retros are placed on the side & instead have an "Air Jordan collection" tag on the tongue!

Next ...1994 OG Black/dark shadow-true red X "Shadows" ....vs the 2008 CDP version!
The biggest change is the "23" stitched to the retros ....the originals had no number on the side, however there were a few sample P.E. pairs that had a "45" when MJ made his return! The OG Shadows have a slightly lighter shade of grey on the upper, but the check pattern of the inside lining is a little darker.
Unsurprisingly, the OGs have higher quality leather side panels, that are thicker than the more cheaply made CDPs! Again the Jumpmans on the back are different, with the retros facing right ...& my OG pair facing each other (this is because they were made in Korea!) Check the "Jordan FAQ section to see the difference between the 3 production countries!
The retro X again has a more detailed Jumpman on the sole & the production tags are placed differently between the two shoes. CDP version has the 1985-2008 insole tag that all Jordans in the Collezione packs have.
