Thought I would contribute. I'll do a '99 fire-red V's vs. '08 fire-red V's comparison. (sorry for the low quality pics)
The obvious difference is the logos on the back and the soles as well as the 23 on the '08 retro. However there are other differences.
-One that stuck out most to me were the tongues. The 3M material on the '99 tongue is brighter and isnt stiff as compared to the '08 retro.
- The Air Jordan tag on the back of '08's tongue is stiched on poorly compared to the '99 retro.
-The other thing to notice is on the midsole on the inner part, the tooth or flame (whatever you want to call it) is white on the '99 and red on the '08.
-The '99 lacelocks have Nike on them and the '08 lacelocks have a jumpman on them.
- The leather does seem better on the '99 retro as well(not necessarily trying to jump on the og/older retro bandwagon).
