actually , i prefer to use other chat platform. here's a few you should check out.

(i used this one for my old blackberry and actually paid for it T_T its not bad and user friendly. check it out and download it since its free and under beta stage)

not sure if theres really a difference between tmo's internet and att's internet. but the phone processor speed is actually the same speed if you overclock it. i actually know a few people that switched from tilt to wing for various reasons.

unlock as in SIM unlock? if so yes.
and if you want to unlock it in hard-spl format, then yes to that as well.

dash do sucks. its a smartphone so its not a pocket pc or PDA phone. therefore its harder to do much to it. however, i believe you still can upgrade the ROM and hack into it. its a little different than pocket pc though. check the site on first page

do which one? for sim unlock, you would have to take it to a cellphone shop and pay around $30-40 because its too risky for you to do it yourself.
for hard-spl. its easier. you just have to download the program from the forum.
here's a link for instruction how to download and install and stuff. its basically to prevent from bricking your phone.
