think ghost and pac were the most consistant dudes to ever do it, only dudes with more than 4 albums and ALL of them are good _________________ http://twitter.com/Jizzla ...follow me
I was gonna ask this in the definitive Wu thread, but I suppose it'd be more appropriate here.
Can anybody relate when I say I'm a big fan of Ghost, but sometimes I don't know what the FUCK he's talking about? I'm always thoroughly entertained when I listen to Ghost, but at times, his darts are indecipherable. My lyric comprehension game is on point and not a whole lot gets by me, rarely do lines go "over my head". But damn...
"You fourteen carat gold slum computer wizard!"
"You had a navy green salamander fiend, bitches never heard you scream"
"Scooby snack, jurassic plastic ass booby trap"
There are plenty of 'em. Can anybody expound on some of his less clear lines? Feel free to add more of them.
Ghost got alot of Vivid Wordplay, I get alot of the thing he say's and this is how I deciphered these lines
"computer wizard" -line, He's out shining on these Squares, nerds,. Ghost 24K'n on the streets while you behind a computer desk
"salamander" - he jacked some kid for his Snakeskin/Leather hence no one heard him scream when hi did it.
"Scooby"line basically wordplay, And The packs/drugs he was serving was Like scooby snacks, remeber How Scooby Salavated for his snacks. hence a Fiend. The drugs had the Fiends hooked like a big ass booby trap
Thanks for the insight, but...

I think the fact that it can be debated about shows just how unclear it is to most.
Anybody else? I'm tryna get schooled. _________________ TEAM BIG FOOTERS

^ yea I mean GZA my fav out of the Wu but that's one thing GFK has over him and that's his consistency
I mean really after everybodys debuts(minus bum ass U-God who's always been here) everybody went downhill production wise but GFK proved he could still get quality production and blaze it _________________ Free Xavier

how did no one go ahead and post this defitnely one of my favorite ghost songs finally a definitive ghost thread well deserved will post more...AND WHOS HYPE OVER " the wizard of poetry" greatest name to a rap album ever..
Ghost face is one of those rappers that you cannot pin point with one style. He's so abstract and even though I often make fun of the Wu for trying to fool us that they're these smart sophisticated brothers and not just some dirt bombs from the hood who found it cool to come out up with this outlandish slang, Ghost face has always seemed to have a method behind his madness.
BRICH hit it right on the head. The emotion this guy puts into a track it's almost like he's reliving it as he's spittin' it. Not much rappers have this ability and is the one thing I credit Pac for. Like Carnivore said, I know MADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD dudes, whether they were the hardest thug in jail or the frailest dude, even if you didn't live that poor "All I got is You" made you want to bawl your eyes out. Rarely does music especially hip hop provoke that emotion out of you.
He's always been the most consistent out of the clan in terms of his albums and like Brich said, I know so many people who are GF fans who could care less about the Wu.
If only skills paid the bills, he definitely deserves the attention he gets and he's dropped a lot of classic 8-16 bars on wax and you can count of him for a solid verse and/or album.
Great thread and props for taking the time out to put something like this together. _________________

IMO he was always like that. Dude would have sex with the word 'attention' if he could.

hahaha...I remember listening to Supreme Cientele specifically the track ONE, and wondering how something that makes no sense be so dope.
Ghost is very entertaining ....and for me music does not always have to be serious/concious/gangster or whatever ...but give me a sense of laughter.
When you had a hard day at work and you come home to your lady nagging you, his music is a great way to escape. _________________

What better company than adidas to create sneakers celebrating Def Jam’s 25 years in the music business? They’ve only been informally married to each other since early in the label’s existence. Some of these models & colorways are enh, but more than a few are impressive, including the Ghostface Forums pictured above. Other artists, including Meth, Red & Jeezy, all received their own kicks.
*golf clap*
Well done, adidas & Def Jam.
Two handfuls of pics after the break.

Those kicks look alright.
To clear something up tho, I'm pretty sure Ghost has said he didn't wear a mask cuz he was on the run, but just cuz he thought it went with his name/persona. _________________ Grammy Family switch speeds like Bruce Lee riding a Fuji in a movie

Did you read the Wu Manual? Cuz I think the most unbelievable Wu tale is RZA talking about actually buying a bulletproof Bobby Digital suit and truck and shit. Even though he prolly did enough PCP to think that was a good investment at the time. _________________ Grammy Family switch speeds like Bruce Lee riding a Fuji in a movie

Ghostface Killah Speaks R&B Album Worries, "It's Not A Bullsh*t Piece Of Work" VIDEO
Quote:
Wu-Tang Clan's Ghostface Killah recently spoke on the perception of his forthcoming R&B-based album and how serious R&B fans will appreciate this new direction.
Ghost also said his Wizard of Poetry project would be a solid album for all music fans.
"I know that I switched my game around on this album right here because it's an R&B album," Ghost said in an interview. "My fans are more or less hip-hop albums. But I wouldn't be mad because I'm doing me, you know what I mean? And this is what I do. But I bet you one thing, I bet that whoever do like R&B, they gonna respect my work because it's not a bullsh*t piece of work. I didn't just put this sh*t together to where it just sounds like 'Oh aight' But nah, if you understand music and love music, then you gonna respect what the f*ck is going on right now. I don't care right now [about separating my fanbase]. I'm telling you I don't care in a sense of like, I'm doing what I wanna do. Whatever is making Ghostface happy right now. I done catered to my fans ever since I came in the game. But if I wanna get on some grown man sh*t and throw on that blazer and do what it do, then I'm doing that. I'm just re-inventing myself on another level though...It's time to take a few turns now." (Rap Radar)
Roc-A-Fella associate Lenny Santiago recently spoke on the project's overall vibe and guest features.
"The new album is called The Wizard of Poetry," Santiago announced in an interview. "It is an R&B album. When I say that, this is what I mean, Ghostface usually raps over melodic, soulful R&B tracks. This time, we came around and I had him rhyme over the same type of tracks, but we matched him with great R&B stars. John Legend is on there. Raheem DeVaughn is on there. Estelle is on there. Musiq Soulchild is on there. Lloyd is on there. We just paired him up. It's the same Ghost, the same gritty host, the same Ghost that talks to the ladies in that soulful voice along with R&B hooks." (MTV)
The upcoming release will also be Ghost's final contractual album via Def Jam.
"It's my last album so I wanted to do the album I always wanted to do," Ghost explained in an interview. "You gotta tell the fans that you not gettin' no younger here, we gettin' older! And everybody don't sell crack no more, man. I don't sell crack, yo. I ain't movin' no bricks or none of that other sh*t. I ain't shoot nobody in like since the early 90's, man. How long you gonna be 40 years-old and actin' like you still sellin' cracks and you on the block and you doin' this and you doin' that when times is more serious, man" (UnKut)
Ghost's last project dropped late last year on Def Jam.
Always prolific, the rapper put out The Big Doe Rehab -- whose release date had originally coincided with Wu-Tang's long-awaited fifth full-length, 8 Diagrams, which RZA agreed to push back a week so as to not coincide with Ghost's effort -- in early December 2007. Ghostface returned in 2008 with a pair of compilations: The Wallabee Champ (rarities and B-sides) and GhostDeini the Great (including remixes, alternate versions, and career highlights). (All Music)
A release date for The Wizard of Poetry has not yet been announced.
