One of the most interesting things about the internet is the sheer amount of music that gets created and placed in the marketplace for human consumption. Although we normally hear about the up-and-coming rappers, or the heavily promoted rappers, places like Datpiff help equalize the playing field and allow people the chance to hear someone they may have never heard before, I am going to try to spotlight people I have ran into during my random music listening sessions on Datpiff.com, and hopefully put YOU on to someone you might be hearing from in the future! If anyone has suggestions for artists they would like me to review, check out my criteria and send me a PM. If they fit, I will review it and post it (Good, Bad, or outright terrible, doesn't matter to me)
Critiera:
-CD must be on DATPIFF.com
-Unsigned artists only! (i.e, no major label looks)
-must be a regional artist/artist no one has ever heard of (so no random person from insert favorite rapper group)
-No compilations, best ofs, or "DJ" records--artists only
-No more than 1 year old
Artist of the Week: Dem Carolina Boiz

Review: out of a possible
- The CD itself is an excellent showcase of their talent. Big V Da Badguy really stands out from his counterpart Bingo Da Doughboi, but both provide an odd counterbalance; While Big V is the calmer, more lyrical of the two, Bingo provides an undeniable energy that meshes well with the beats chosen. This was definitely recorded during the "crunk" phase of southern hip-hop, as songs like "Break Ya Neck," "Get Back," and "Thug Bounce" showcase this sound. Both artists are comfortable of a variety of beats, from "Get Em Daddy" to "Burn." Lyrically, Big V outshines Bingo on almost every track, but contrary to most southern rappers, both of them are pretty dope. Songs like "Burn", "It's DCB", and "Kiss Your Ass Goodbye" exhibit this odd contrast.
The biggest problem with the CD is the sound quality and the DJ. It sounds like Cee-Lo didn't raise their vocals after he did his thing, which has them sounding really quiet. You can tell by the beats chosen that this CD was supposed to be really bass heavy-- turning this down kills the bass and definitely ruins the experience. Cee-Lo himself is a major problem-- He talks too much and shows off too much... I can understand running back a dope ass line; I CANNOT understand running back one line SEVEN TIMES!!! This ruins the CD; Luckily, they were smart enough to drop a "No DJ" version of the CD (check the link below), which also adds a couple of bonus songs.
Songs to Check for: Swag on a Million (check the no dj version for Big V's song stealing verse), Thug Bounce, Shrimp n Gritz, Burn, Cock Blockin
