Nice thread, but just a note to all the people saying the Titanic won't be topped, a common consensus is that Gone With the Wind amongst a few other films have actually been more successful. When you take inflation into account, which truly shows how well these films were received because it takes into account the number of tickets which were sold, not just the amount of money they made, you can see that Titanic was out-sold by a couple other movies.

CRAZYYYY.
I wonder if there will be a movie that will beat Titanic.

To be honest, I don't think anytime soon.

What do you guys think about Avatar then? Since its made by the same director as Titanic.

Avatar will be huge, it's been toted as being able to "change the way we watch movies" and "change the movie industry forever." I don't know if I buy that just yet, but I'll be sure to check it out on the big screen.

The Box Office changes every weekend, man.

Interested to see how much "New Moon" does- It was sold out when they had it in 11/20 theaters when I went to try and see it.

'New Moon' takes record $72.7M box office bite
Nov. 21, 2009 12:41 PM ET (AP)

Vampires and werewolves have vanquished a dark knight. "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" took in $72.7 million in its first day to break the single day domestic box office record previously held by "The Dark Knight," which had a $67.2 million opening day last year.

The Friday haul for the "Twilight" sequel includes a record $26.3 million from midnight screenings alone.

If "New Moon" maintains its pace, it might have a shot at the all-time best opening weekend record of $158.4 million, also held by "The Dark Knight."

"New Moon" continues the story of teen romance between a girl and a vampire (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson), with the sequel adding a love triangle with a teen werewolf (Taylor Lautner).
