How much should I be paying to have a set of coilovers and lower control arms installed?

Fair price, I would say around the $100-150....if it's someone you know at the shop, $80 cash and a coffee Wink

Wow for both installs? I thought I'd be paying in the neighborhood of $300.

Yeah $150 is about right. It'd be about 1.5 hours of labor. so at about $70 a hour + tax. you'll be in that range.
Also, when ever you do a major suspension upgrade/change it's good to look into getting an alignment. which will be about $50+ more.

Well, I guess depends on what kind of shop you are going to and who you know.
The shops in LA, their rates could be way different then here in Toronto, nah mean ?

Just remember, if you are going to a good reputable shop
sometimes it's worth paying the extra $$$ to have things done the right way, the first time
and no one said you can't haggle a bit to save a buck or two Wink

As for myself, I use to be a part owner of a shop here.....Ive known the industry heads for years and years
Unfortuntaly some that were around for years are now gone do to competition but the good shops are still around
Those are my homies from way back in the day that I will only trust with my car....if Im not doing the work myself

^A 1998 Lexus SC400. The coilovers are Stance GR+ and control arms OEM Toyota Supra

On the real, I wanna die paying as much as I did. I went to my regular mechanic and paid well over the $300 I thought for an alignment, oil change, and install.

Oh yeah, and my steering STILL isn't fixed! I hate driving my car, every little bump in the road causes my steering wheel to fly all over the place. I'm replacing the steering rack bushings as a last hurrah, before I sell this fucking annoying ass car.
