misterrsqishyy,
2nd gen Differences include:
More rounded back
Volume buttons on the side
External Speakers
Larger capacity
Different box
Maybe more, but it's basically the same as the 1g. Price is a little lower than what the 1g was when it was being sold. Both have the same firmware I believe, and can be jailbroken the same. Apps are the same regardless of what you get. |
So which one would you suggest? |

It's really a price thing, if you have the money, just go with a 2g, you can get those easy from apple and they have new features, the 1g is just the outdated model, but you could find it for cheap. _________________ Did Venus blow your mind, was it everything you wanted to find, and did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?

Google? it would be the same as a "2nd gen" since its just a bigger size. Basically you download a program that does it for you. _________________ Did Venus blow your mind, was it everything you wanted to find, and did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?

1. turn it on
2. get a message on ipod to restore via itunes
3. plug in + click restore
4. message appears - error 1415 cant be restored.

I have a dock from 2003, connected to a really old charger, one that came with the 3rd gen ipod, it has a dock connector that splits into a firewire for charging and USB for computer. the problem is that my ipod doesnt want to sync through my dock, it will through the cable itself. it charges though when docked.
EDIT: One of these, but OEM.

| I have a iPod video that recently only started giving out sound from one side. I know it's not the headphones, because I've tried several. It does come out on both sides when I only plug the headphones in about half way. What is the deal with this? Do any stores fix it? Would it be better to just buy a new one? |

this.
read the blog by clicking the picture of the guy. you need to restore to the 3.1.2 firmware. also, does not work on 8gb.
afterwards, just dl for your mac/pc by going back here and click on your os icon.
plug your ipod in, run and click make it rain.

it sounds like the headphone jack is messed up. you can bring it to the genius bar in an apple store and they should fix it for free if its still under warranty. _________________

So it's not possible to jailbreak any 8gb? or is that strictly just for 3rd generation? _________________

Only 1st and 2nd generations have 8gbs. "3rd" generation refers to 32gb and 64 gb versions of the second model; ie, the one with volume buttons. It's more about the firmware than the model that determines if it can be broken. My 8gb 1st gen is broken, but is running 3.1.1 _________________ Did Venus blow your mind, was it everything you wanted to find, and did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?

JoeyMorgan619: Try twisting the headphones around while plugged in and see if you can find a spot where sound comes out from both, but as said above me, bring it to an Apple store.

I'm trying to jailbreak my iPod Touch right now with the blackra1n but my iPod Touch seems to be stuck at the screen where it has the image of it "recovering". _________________

Supposed to take "30 seconds".
But nothing has happened.
I even try restarting it and such... but that doesn't do much.
*on a different note.
since the blackra1n requires you checking off the compatibility for windows; are there any consequences if you didn't check it and just jailbroke it from there? _________________

You should try reds0w or quickpwn if you have an older firmware. I'm not familiar with blackra1n, but those 2 are more widely used. _________________ Did Venus blow your mind, was it everything you wanted to find, and did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?
