Last week we profiled the Nike Trainer 1 Mid “NYC,” inspired by the city of New York. This week our focus travels across the country to Los Angeles as we feature the Nike Trainer 1 Mid “LA,” hitting select Foot Locker stores next week.
The Trainer 1 “LA” has the same technical specs as its “NYC” counterpart, including Nike’s patented Diamond FLX outsole for flexible stability and a Max Air midsole for cushioning, which give this shoe true performance capabilities.
But the colorway and detailing are all about LA. The shoe has a blue suede upper with white leather overlays, a blue suede toebox with a white leather toe cap, and a white leather heel highlighted by the letters “LA” in graffiti-style writing over a red Nike swoosh.
For those of you looking to represent the City of Angels, the Nike Trainer 1 Mid “LA” arrives soon. In the meantime, visit the Gallery for more images of the shoe.

BO KNOWS TRAINER 1 INFO
A new, limited, “Bo Knows” Trainer 1 Mid black/black/metallic silver will hit select Foot Locker stores as early as next week. The “Bo Knows” line featured on the tongue and insole, riffs on the Nike Cross-Training commercials from the mid 90’s featuring multi-sport star Bo Jackson “knowing” every sport from baseball to hockey. With each example the line “Bo Knows ____” would repeat.
The Trainer 1 has some other signature Bo Jackson elements including Raider’s silver and black for his former NFL squad, and a pixelated Bo Jackson baseball figure on the insole. The figure is reminiscent of the Tecmo Bo found on the Air Trainer II LE released in July of ‘09.
The upper is predominantly black with some silver piecing near the toe. There is also silver stitching encircling the Swoosh and making up the Nike logo on the heel. The midsole is grey cement, with some black elephant print around the collar. For more shots check out the Gallery.

This Nike Trainer 1 Mid in medium grey/black/chlorophyll reps for tennis bad boy turned commentator John McEnroe. It arrives at select Foot Locker stores (pairs are limited) around the same time as the “Bo Knows” Trainer 1, as early as next week. The inside of the tongue features a “Mac Knows” tag, stemming from McEnroe’s appearance in the infamous “Bo Knows” commercials.

The Trainer 1 supports “the city that never sleeps” with a big “NEW” and “YORK” on the heel, and a script “nyc” on the tongue. It has a navy upper and splatter guard, above a white mid-sole with visible air in the heel. Love the city or hate the city, you’ve got to respect the gear. And if you’re a west coast kid, stay tuned for another city inspired trainer…

Today, Nike unveiled their new Air Trainer 1, designed by Aaron Cooper. 20 years after the launch of the legendary “Bo Knows” campaign, Nike is still innovating in the category they created: cross training. Nike Vice President and General Manager of Athletic Training, Kris Aman, explained that Bo was a driving force in the evolution of multi-use footwear. “As Tinker and the team were really connecting to Bo, understanding what he needed and what he wanted, we were able to take the products, the DNA of the Nike brand, and the future of innovation even further.

well the old air trainer 1 was functional technologically for its time i guess these are too. Back then i dont think they were thinking about style either. Same as now. not something id wear out like the originals.
we need more old air trainer 1s though. love them

These are sick as hell and I hope the Roy ones will be available.
Im not aiming this at anyone but if all the shoes were kept the same then it would pretty boring. Why not take the base of one of the best cross training shoes ever and make a lighter and performance driven shoe? It may not be as appealing for casual wear but this is a shoe made with athletes in mind.

dont get me wrong im pretty sure its a good trainer.. but to call it an air trainer it doesnt even look remotly close to the original.
but i want to see that chlorophyll looking one in a close pic. looks somewhat decent.

Ya I know what you mean... Just wanted to let you know I wasnt aiming it at you.  . They should have named it something like AT1 2009 or something like that.

yes.. that was done in 2004 with the zoom trainer 1 mid..

this whole campaign imo reeks of gimmicks. By all accounts in video and text form on this new shoe, the zoom trainer doesnt even exist,and this latest "air trainer" is the NEW technological branch from the original.. thats not true at all..

Personally I have no problems with Nike "updating" their older models, however I find it very strange they would call this model by the same name, that is the Air Trainer 1.
The Zoom Trainer 1 is a very cool shoe in my eyes, which somewhat stays true to the original design but with a few updated elements.
This latest "Air Trainer 1" is, as both Wally and Jim pointed out, pretty much just an excuse to use newer technology (read Flywire, at least that's what it looks like).
With that said, I still find the newest 'version' pretty sleek and comfortable looking. Really would like to see and feel a pair in person, and at a decent price I probably
wouldn't say no to the "original" colorway.
