Looks like the picture was meant to be taken that way, but I do agree on the focus.
When taking pictures of animals, with the picture featuring the face; almost ALWAYS focus on the eyes. Whatever else is focused as well does not really matter. The eyes really make the picture when capturing the animal.

Damn fog in my area, ruined my oppurtunities at getting a firework shot. 
I was in a great a great spot too.. Wide open and free from power lines/distractions.
Keep it up though guys.
