Cracked Apps, Free apps that are from the App Store; I use this method, so DO NOT TELL ME IT DOES NOT WORK!
HOW TO GET CRACKED APPS ON 2.2-3.0
I say for 3.0, because that is what I am on. If you are anything lower, test it, and let me know how it works.
There is also the way to do it manually.
Open Cydia > Click Manage > Sources > Tap 'Edit' (top right) > Tap 'Add' (top left) > Type, http://cydia.hackulo.us/ > Let it add, and refresh, once finished, tap 'Hackulo.us', let it load (takes about 10 seconds) > Install 'Installous' and 'miPatch Firmware 2.2' or 2.1 if your are on that > Go to springboard, tap on Installous.
Find an App by searching or browsing, try with Tweetie 2. Search Tweetie 2, tap it; go all the way to the bottom, click the link to the newest version, the iPhone friendly ones; usually RapidShare, mediafire or 2shared; let the link load, then click download, wait til its finished, go to the home screen, go to Installous, click the app you downloaded, then once it says at the bottom "the app ..... is complete" or something like that, hit the home button and it should be there, if not, reboot your iPhone and it will be on your home screen.

do not forget to reboot your iphone after so changes can take affect. not too sure if this will work for everyones settings but this did the job for mine.
Next, after reboot, go to settings > messaging, and make sure MMS is activated, reboot one more time, if needed, check your messages app first.

I believe that Installous and AppShare are pretty much the same, but I use Installous.
I and IQETZPHARESH both recommend staying away from all of the PWNcenter Repositories because we both downloaded and we both got the spinning rings of death, which means we have to restore and re-jailbreak. It sucks.

Backgrounder - allows programs to keep running in the background
OpenSSH - allows you to access iphone files from your comp
Snapture - Better than the camera app.. It has a a timer, color mode, quiet mode, multi shot (One of my favorites!!)
AppFLow - turn the phone horizontally and scroll through your apps
SwirlyMMS - MMS messaging.. for 2g users because iPhone 3g and 3gS now has MMS capabilities.
IntelliScreen - once you pay it's fun.. Access info from your lock screen
iBlacklist - disregard calls.. etc.
Steffwiz - Download this source from Cydia to access blank apps (search for Blank, Install 5, Install 10 and Install 20 on Cydia after install)

1. root/System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app/English.Iproj/SpringBoard.strings
2. scroll down to AWAY_LOCK_LABEL
3. change the strings to watever you want
4. save
5. open winterboard and select anything and deselect it to re-spring the board
6. done
Free ringtones
How do I get free ringtones without jailbreaking the iPhone?
1. upload song you like to Itunes 8.2
2. Right click > Get Info > Options > Check BOTH "Start Time" and "End Time"
3. Select The interval of 15-20seconds you want as a ringtone.
4. Click OKAY!
5. Right click the song Click "Convert selection into AAC"
6. New Song file pops up right under the original song.
7. Drag New file onto desktop
8. Right click "get info", change file extension from Ringtone.M4A to "Ringtone.M4R", warning will pop up and click "USE M4R"
9. Close itunes 8.2
10. Click on the ringtone file on your desktop and your done!!!! FREE Custom Ringtones on your iphone.

You MUST change the extension. Your Windows will not be set to show extensions so you will only be renaming the file which is USELESS. PLEASE FOLLOW THESE STEPS.
AFTER STEP 7. DO THIS.
STEP 8. Open MY COMPUTER and go to TOOLS -> FOLDER OPTIONS at the top
STEP 9. Go to the VIEW tab and it should open up a long list. UNCHECK THE BOX "HIDE EXTENSIONS FOR KNOWN FILE TYPES"
It should look like that.
STEP 10. RESUME TO STEP 8 FROM THE PREVIOUS LIST.
ALSO REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR RINGTONES 25 SECONDS AND UNDER OR IT WON'T SHOW UP

Open Cydia, let it load all the way.
Install an emulator (must have for the roms to play on.)
Navigate to sections > games; now choose; NES, gpSphone (game boy advance), or genesis4iphone.
Once that is complete.
Tap Manage, along the bottom bar.
Tap Edit, then Add (Top right, and top left of the screen)
type in http://apt.123locker.com/
Let it 'Refresh'; you will see the first picture, then tap on the new source you added, and you will see second picture.
Once it is finished, tap on it, and you will see this screen.

I recall someone mentioning a way to upgrade the firmware with out having to restore and unlocking it again.
Can anyone teach me how to do this?

Only works for 2g iPhone and does not have cydia or installer installed with it. It is an unlock w/o jailbreak.

I'm looking for a new phone and I've considered the iPhone for a long time but I don't want to be tied down with the two year data plan.
Not up to par with my iPhone firmware cracking knowledge so would it be wise to buy the 8GB 3G iPhone and jailbreak/crack it.
Or the 3GS when it comes out?

So I have an iphone 3g that i want to give to my dad as a fathers day gift. But i just found the phone and its asking for a passcode. Is there a way to figure out the passcode or do i just unlock it using one of the websites above? sorry if this is in the wrong forum.
