i got an hdmi cable from ebay for a couple bucks and it works pretty good, hooked up to the 42" samsung and it looks pretty good
i havent tried it on my xbox 360 yet.
and you can mount your tv without having to pay money to bestbuy, just buy the metal things and get a friend to help.
then just make holes in the wall to pass them through and you'll be good.
me and my pops did it the same way the people at bestbuy would do them. minus the $300

How about the differences between DVI - HDMI converters? I'm about to inherit my dad's 50" Sony 1080i (manufactured Feb 04) and it has a DVI so he purchased a converter cable to HDMI for Blue-Ray.

I don't know about converters but there are HDMI to DVI cables though. DVI is designed for high data transfers, it should be able to handle it.

Yea I used a DVI to HDMI when I was using my TV as my computer screen. DVI is the same as HDMI just without sound. So if you use DVI you will need another way for the sound to come through.

I have my sound hooked up to my receiver so that's all good. I'm going to pick up my dad's 50" HDTV today. I can't wait.

The only thing I'm bummed about is that my dvd recorder will not record in HD because it does not support the DVI-HDMI hookup which is what it primarily takes. Are there dvd recorders that record in HD?

^I think there is but it'll downconvert the file. HD files are too big in bitrates.

Just make holes in the wall? Wouldn't one have to find studs? Did you?

I'm not hanging my TV like a picture.

^Nothing wrong with hanging your TV, you save space that way. I just find the studs that's it.
