Entries:
------------------------------------------------
-There are no open entries to this contest. The participants for this contest were invited based on their participation in the custom's forum as well as the customizing community in general. There were several slots allocated to the public at the beginning of the competition. In order to be considered in future competition's, please keep active on the board and continue to make our community strong and prosperous.
-Each participant MUST pay an entry fee. The entry fee is a one-time cost of $100. The entry fee will cover the costs of expenses incurred for the contest and will be used toward organizing the final summit and showcase at the end of the Clash of the Customizers. You may submit your entry fee no later than August 1. You can send separately through the mail (concealed cash, check (Payable to 3R Customs), or money order), or via PayPal (PayPal or credit card).
-If you do not pay your entry fee, your shoes will be automatically put up for auction and if you are still in the Clash of the Customizers, then your current battle may be forefeited.
-If you wish to submit your entry fee via PayPal (or credit card), click here
-Each participant will be issued a due date based in the bracket. The participant's pair must be shipped and received BY THE DUE DATE. The DUE DATE is exactly one month from the day their last battle occurred. For ex: If my battle is on July 1 and win that battle, the due date for my next battle is Aug. 1.
-Failure to submit shoes by the DUE DATE may result in a forfeiture of the individual battle. The address to ship to is:
3R Customs
c/o SC Customizer Clash 2009
PO BOX 781752
Orlando, FL 32878-1752
-All entries must be brand new, dead stock and authentic.
-All entries will be equally and professionally photographed. Each participant will receive a CD of pictures taken for the Clash FREE of charge.
-There will be a minimum of 1 month between rounds.
-Participants must submit relatively new work that has not been posted in the forums. (amended for special circumstances)
-If an entry is a collaboration, it is allowed, but may only be credited to one person. If the collaboration is with the person you are actively in a battle with, it may not be used.
-There are no drugs, pornography, suggestive, offensive, insulting or controversial content allowed. If you think your entry may be questionable, please email me or PM me with the idea or picture and I will approve or disapprove it in accordance with the rules of the forum.
-There will be no themed rounds or battles.
-The staff reserves the right to change and/or modify any rule for the betterness of the competition. The membership will be notified via this thread and the changes will be identified in red and blue.
-The final grand prize will include a trophy and a minimum of $500.

The Contest:
------------------------------------------------
-The overall competition for this year will be a bracket-style, single elimination contest. Each week, a new battle will take place pitting customizers head to head with one another.
-There will be 28 participants that may compete in up to 5 battles.
-Participants will be randomly drafted into their positions in the bracket.
-The winner of the battle will move on in the winner's bracket and the loser will be eliminated.
-The battles will continue until we have one final grand prize winner.
-Each battle will have the same due date. The battles will be staggered and posted in the lounge for voting from the public and will be sent out to 5 judges.
-When you submit a pair to battle, you can choose whether or not to: "display only", "sell", or "auction". If you choose to "display only," then your pair(s) will be shipped back to you at no additional cost after the showcase. If you choose to "sell," you choose at what cost you want to sell the customs for and if they sell, you will receive 100% of the income. If they do not sell, they will be shipped back to you at no additional cost. If you choose to "auction," then the shoes will be auctioned via silent auction and 75% will go toward a charity to be later determined and 25% will go back to the customizer. If they do not get sold at auction, they will be shipped back to you at no additional cost.
-Each participant is required to submit at least one pair. If you choose to, you can use that one pair to battle each battle to the very end. If you choose to battle the same pair in each battle, you will be docked 10% of the vote for each round the pair has appeared. (For example, if you use the same pair in round 3 as you did in round 1 and round 2, then you will be docked 20% of the vote.) You may also submit a new pair to battle in each battle provided that it is received before the due date of the round.
-Once a pair has been replaced, it cannot be used again within the battle without repercussion. You will be docked the same percentage amount for each battle that has passed as if the pair had not been replaced. (For example: if you use a pair in round 1 and replace it in round 2, then you want to use the same pair from round 1 in round 3, then you will be docked 20% of the vote for round 3.)
-If a new pair is not submited by the due date, then the previous pair will be automatically used and the 10% dock will be applied to the vote. (or more considering the amount of times the pair has been used within the battle)
Voting:
------------------------------------------------
-Monthly judges may change throughout each battle so one panel may never be the same. DO NOT CONTACT ME ASKING TO BE A JUDGE!
-Judges will vote based on criteria below:
- originality
- cleanliness/execution
- theme/concept
- flow (colorway/organization/placement of graphics)
- totality (idea of being whole, complete)
- overall (possessing the best balance of criteria)
-Public voting will be done by the members via posting in the Lounge. No polls. Voting will take place for two days.
-Only members with a membership longer than 3 months are allowed to participate. Members must also have at least 50 posts. I apologize if it seems unfair, but this is the only way to prevent cheating that has taken place in contests I've seen before.
-Any public votes that are left ambiguous (ex: i like B and D the best) will not be counted.
-Final results will be a combination of judge votes and public votes and will be posted in a contest discussion thread in the customs forums within 3 days of public voting finishing.
-If there is a tie, the tiebreaker will be the majority vote of the judges.
-The final battle will be displayed at the gallery location and the winner will be announced on opening night.
Auction, Summit, and Gallery:
------------------------------------------------
-All entries submitted will be displayed in a gallery space in Los Angeles for two weeks starting on December 12, 2009. Location is yet to be determined.
-All entries submitted with the "auction" designation will be put up for silent auction at the gallery starting at a base price of $100. Bid increments will be $25.
-The silent auction will be conducted throughout the two weeks that the gallery is opened.
-On the opening night, we will have a VIP party/Summit where we will invite celebrities, press, and other guests. Invitation and RSVP will be required!
-Funds that will be collected for charity will be put toward a charity to be determined at a later date.
-Any administrative funds left over will be donated to the named charities.
-THE SILENT AUCTION IS OPENED TO ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE! You may donate anything art related to be auctioned off.
-You may also send extra pairs and art to sell or display at your discretion. If you send extra work that doesn't sell or you choose to display only, you must pay for the costs to ship the items back. You set the price to everything you send.
-TO DISPLAY IS OPEN TO EVERYONE ASWELL! But, if you're not apart of the Clash of the Customizers, then you must pay a $100 display fee. Please submit your pair(s) by December 1st to the address above.
-Any pairs that are put up for Display Only, or for Sale or Auction that don't get sold and that are not apart of the Clash itself, will be shipped back at the customizer's expense.

-Each customizer will be notified when they have a month left and when they have two weeks left toward their DUE DATE via PM.
Update 3/1/09:
Reminders to all that are participating that there are 2 months left until the 1st due date are being sent via PM. Also, all rules are finalized.
karllikeskicks has officially withdrawn from the competition but Joe Cool has taken his place.
Update 3/16/09:
Name has been officially changed to "Customizer Clash"
One concern I have is that some people might think that customer orders are still acceptable. Since the rule modifications came into effect, CUSTOMER ORDERS ARE NOW NO LONGER ACCEPTED!
Since we modified the rules to single elimination and removed the requirement for a new pair for every battle, this will significant'ly decrease the amount of pairs that will be showcased in the battle. That being the case, we removed the ability to send in customer pairs when the modifications of the rules became permanant. Sorry if there was any confusion.
Update 3/20/09:
Last name change, I swear. Name has been officially changed to "Clash of the Customizers"
If you're wondering why, it's because Clash of the Customizers correlates to Clash of the Titans, and seeing as we are all Titans in this world, it seemed more befitting.
Update 4/06/09:
Reminders to all that are participating that there is 1 month left until the 1st due date were sent via PM on April 1.
King Solomon has officially withdrawn from the Clash. We are still waiting to hear from C2 for his final decision. If C2 decides to also withdraw, then the bracket will be consolidated, if C2 decides to stay in, Deuce Tray will replace King Solomon.
Also added some clarification on the shipping policies regarding what qualifies for free return shipping and what doesn't.
Update 4/24/09:
Check out my blog post (here) to get an idea as to how the kicks are going to be displayed for the public!
Reminders to all that are participating that there is 1 week left until the 1st due date were sent via PM on April 24.
Update 05/01/09:
Deadline is here! If you HAVE NOT shipped your pair yet, PLEASE DO NOT ship express. It's not necessary, it's okay if they're a couple days late. Please save your money! Thanks a bunch to those that did! You'll be taken care of.
So far I have received 12 pairs, 7 pairs that are in transit, spoken with 7 of you, 6 people that I haven't heard from, 1 late entry accepted and 5 more people that have withdrawn.
Adding to the Clash is:
Deuce_Tray
Withdrawn from the Clash are:
AbovetheClouds
C2Customs
Joe Cool
solesclean
TTK1994
Changes will obviously have to be made to the bracket accordingly, and will be done as soon as I have a chance to speak with the people that I haven't heard from. If you're one of those people, please let me know your status asap. I'll be sending PMs tomorrow to those participants regarding their status if they don't PM me first.
Please disregard the bracket and the schedule for the moment until everything is 100%, which should be by May 5. I'm still planning on having the first battle on May 7.
I also left an "easter egg" in this post to a new evolution of the Clash
Update 05/03/09
Bracket is set at 32. I'm making the executive decision, it's a nice round number for the bracket, and it'll make things alot easier on my end. From now on, there will be no withdraws from the Clash, rather any failures to submit will be considered forfeits.
PM Final notices were sent out today, please respond by May 5 if you haven't already.
The final schedule regarding the dates for the battles will be contingent on the vote in process in the forum regarding one day or two days voting for the public. Once that vote has completed, the schedule will be finalized.
The numbers of the battles as well as the battles themselves have been slightly modified and will be posted shortly.
- Since TTK1994 and AbovetheClouds have withdrawn, those battles will be consolidated and Sev will face off against TheStarscream. That battle will now be known as #6.
- Battle #7 will be filled by Deuce_Tray and mr.bbgambini.
- Since solesclean has withdrawn, ILL-EGO now moves up into battle #17 to face mache275. Battle #17 now becomes #8.
- Battle #8 now becomes #3.
- Since King Solomon has withdrawn, JBLogic moves into his slot to face bLue in battle #9.
- Battle #2 replaces battle #18.
- Since C2Customs has withdrawn, Battle #3 replaces battle #19 and now becomes battle #1.
- mr.bbgambini moves from battle #20 to battle #7.
- Battle #4 replaces battle #20.
- Since Joe Cool has withdrawn, sharp020 moves from battle #14 to battle #21.
- Battle #5 replaces battle #14.
- Battle #21 now becomes #16.
- Battle #15 now becomes #14.
- Battle #16 now becomes #15.
I know this all sounds like chinese (no offense to those chinese) but it will all make more sense once you see the new bracket. In the cause of full disclosure I typed it all out so you can see how it matches up against the old bracket.
update 2: schedule has been updated.
update 3: Rules have been twitched a bit to make it so that everyone as an equal amount of time after the first round to make a new pair if they want to.
update 4: New Bracket is now available to view.
Update 5/5/09:
http://www.clashofthecustomizers.com/
Site is live! Go check it out!
Voting for public also changed to 2 days.
Update 5/28/09:
Battles #8-16 have been rotated around. Particpants in each battle remain the same, but the battles that are ready have been moved up.
Update 2: Moved the entry fee deadline back a month to August 1.
Update 6/14/09:
Had to rotate the next 3 battles due to pairs being in transit:
Battle #13: sharp020 v. chrisco-cc.com
Battle to Commence On: June 14, 2009
Battle #14: ILL-EGO v. mache275
Battle to Commence On: June 17, 2009
Battle #15: bLue v. JBLogic
Battle to Commence On: June 20, 2009
Update 6/28/09:
Battle 14 & 16 were switched around.
Apologizes for the delay.
Battle 16 will be posted between 1pm and 2pm EST.
Since the winner of battle #14 goes on to face Sah in battle #18, battle #18 has been moved back to #20 and #19 & #20 have been moved up one slot. This is to give the winner of #14 some time (at least) to submit something for the second round.
Update 2: Also, since we've seen mache275's pair before:
-Participants must submit relatively new work that has not been posted in the forums. (amended for special circumstances)
Any further questions? comments? concerns? Post'em here!

Truth be told, the responses i received from the questionnaire regarding this question was that most would be willing to pay $50-$100 to participate. I thought that $40 was pretty fair.

Well Mr. Menace, if you can enter no more than 2 customer pairs, then that would insinuate that you have to make a different pair for each battle
I keed i keed... but really, why would you need 2 months inbetween battles if it wasn't to work on shoes?
The objective is to make more shoes to auction more shoes to give more money to charity

why should that lose me respect?
I'm seventeen, sorry I don't have forty dollars to spend on contests... I would be willing to spend the money, it's that I don't have the money.
and lets be realistic... I wouldn't have a chance at winning anyway. It would be a great opportunity though, and obviously fun. Next year hopefully I will be in a better position to be involved with it as my skill improves and hopefully I will get more orders to fund this.
I was not saying I was going to win next year tM, I was saying I would be involved. Hopefully.
Good luck to all those participating by the way _________________ This is my facebook page. most of my customs are there along with some helpful info. Click the link and go be a fan!!

i only type how i feel bro i dont mean anything bad by anything i say on these boards.
the reason of simply not having 40$ is fine although im sure it wouldnt be too hard to ask your parents or beg if you really wanted to be apart of the competition. get a sign and pan handle if necessary
| jbf28 wrote: | | lets be realistic... I wouldn't have a chance at winning anyway. |
No indications show that i myself can compete with any of the artists in this competition based on previous work of mine. (soon to be a statement of the past ) however i will give so2, jes, intrxn eL etc my best shot.
your original comment with no explanation made it look as if you were simply not gonna try because you didnt think you had a chance against "better" more experienced customizers. simply not trying and participating for that fact i dont like myself. i speak only for myself although im sure others would agree.
i myself have come from nothing and to some may still be nothing but i will always try and have the goal to be the best. my mind is way ahead of my work so im playing catchup right now
